£73K raised for Charity at Beaujolais Day!

This year’s “Brogue Does Beaujolais Day” marked the 7th year we have put on our spectacular soiree, an event organised by The Brogue Trader’s Chris Macnamara & Spiros Fine Dining Spiro Borg KSG all in aid of Cardiff’s local palliative care charity, City Hospice. This wonderful event was held at the magnificent Conerstone in Cardiff’s city centre with over 160 people in attendance to celebrate the local tradition of Beaujolais Day in South Wales.

So after a champagne reception to greet our guests, the electric Rupert Moon compered the event and worked on getting the crowd excited for the days antics with a joyful game of heads and tails whilst jesting those around the room and bringing the place alive. A 3 course dinner with accompanying wine and cheese board was then served by City hospice Ambassador, Spiro Borg KSG of Spiro’s Fine Dining who kindly donated his time, venue hire cost and cost of the dinner to the charity to ensure all proceeds from the day went direct to the noble cause.

After Dinner we had a terrific auction with wonderful prizes kindly donated by our many sponsors along with a mega prize of 7 pairs of shoes worth up to £3200! These prizes had the room alight and were a huge boost to the funds raised for the charity with many people generously bidding on multiple items.

Once the excitement of the auction settled down, we were entertained by the hilarious Nina Gilligan who had the entire 160 person audience in stitches! Nina was followed by the superb Big Mac’s Wholly soul band who rocked the venue until the little hours of the morning and sent the night out with a bang!

With all the entertainment keeping our guests busy, we were able to count the generous donations of the day and were blown away by the generosity that with Match Funding from the Jane Hodge Foundation, we were able to raise over £73,500 in one day! This will make a huge difference to the hospice and will provide care to those with life limiting illnesses. So a huge Thank you to all that attended, donated and raised a glass and even more money for such a great cause!
